Hungarian Specialties Shine at SIAL Toronto 2025

SIAL Toronto, North America’s largest food industry trade show, officially opened this week — and Hungary proudly took its place at the European Union’s shared pavilion, jointly represented by the Consulate General of Hungary in Toronto and the HEPA Regional Office Canada.

This major international event brings together leading food and beverage producers, distributors, and industry professionals to explore the latest trends, innovations, and market opportunities in the global food sector.


Spotlight on Hungarikums

Hungary’s booth showcased some of its most celebrated and distinctive products, known collectively as Hungarikums, to an enthusiastic international audience.

At the center of attention were Hungary’s world-renowned Tokaji wines, including:

  • Patricius Furmint Dry

  • Katinka

  • 5 and 6 puttonyos aszú wines

Visitors responded with great enthusiasm to the unique character, balance, and exceptional quality of these historic wines.

Also featured were other iconic Hungarian specialties:

  • Szeged paprika, known for its rich color and flavor

  • Panyolai pálinka, a bold fruit spirit produced using traditional methods

  • Pick salami, represented by Brandt Meats, a symbol of Hungarian culinary heritage

Adding to the event’s prestige, Canadian-British chef and television personality Imrun Texeira visited the booth and praised the exceptional pairing of Tokaji wines with blue cheese — a combination that impressed many industry insiders.
