A high-level Ontario delegation led by Victor Fedeli, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, visited Budapest to further strengthen economic relations between Hungary and Canada, and to support new opportunities for Hungarian companies in the North American market.
As part of the program, initiated by the HEPA Regional Office Canada, the delegation was hosted by HEPA Hungarian Export Promotion Agency. The professional meeting was attended by Katalin Bihari, CEO of HEPA, Dr. Gábor Artner, Deputy CEO, and Balázs Csutora, expert responsible for Canadian relations.
Several leading Hungarian companies were represented at the event, including 77 Elektronika Kft., Kuube – Premium Smart Furniture, Chameleon Smart Home, Master Good, Jász-Plasztik, Continest, Kőröstej and Naturtex.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the business and investment opportunities offered by the Province of Ontario, as well as the practical support available for Hungarian companies looking to expand in North America. Several of the companies present are already successfully active in the Canadian market with the assistance of the HEPA Regional Office Canada.
A notable success story is Continest, whose innovative collapsible container systems have already proven successful in Canada and are planned to be featured at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto.
As part of their Budapest program, the Ontario delegation also visited the Continest factory, participated in a technology startup event, and held professional discussions on defence and dual-use technologies organized by the VEX Defence and Space Export Agency. The delegation also discussed international growth opportunities for Hungarian innovative enterprises at the National Innovation Agency.
The visit once again highlighted the increasingly close economic and innovation cooperation between Ontario and Hungary, creating new opportunities for Hungarian companies in the North American market.
